Big Idea: “Tattoo Flash Sheet for a Video Game”

Fig 2 took a personal interest in the indie PC/PS4 game “Night in the Woods.” We took quotes from each of the characters and incorporated them into a tattoo flash sheet before releasing them across the internet for anyone to tattoo. It was part social experiment, part print design challenge. To this day, emails with the header “nightmare eyes” occasionally stumble across our company inbox, with fresh photos of an image we conjured almost a decade ago, tattooed on someone’s skin forever.

The game has a very handmade feel to it; it was something Fig 2 wanted to replicate, aesthetically, in our own piece. As a player, you become Mae, a college dropout, as she returns to her hometown, uncovering secrets that unravel the town’s eerie past. Naturally, some ghosts and other spooky elements appear on the tattoo flash sheet for this reason.

The characters on this sheet are a mix of traditional art styles and digital/vector art. If you tattoo any of these designs, let us know! We would love to see it.
