Big Idea: “Gender Role Reversal Poster Series”

This poster series is based on the concept of raising your child be who they want to be, free from any societal norms. The series celebrates the way your child is naturally, outside of their assigned birth gender. It shows this celebration as a freedom, not a restriction. In this series, the traditional gender roles are reversed to show this concept.

In such cases of gender role reversal, behaviors, responsibilities, and characteristics typically associated with one position are adopted by the other. This reversal can manifest in various ways. It could show up in domestic duties, career choices, emotional expressions, or societal power dynamics. The aim in this switch is often to challenge or subvert conventional gender norms, highlighting the fluidity and diversity of roles and capabilities across genders.

These posters are screen printed. Even as a serious topic, Fig 2 wanted the series to have a playful feel. Little gender-swapped icons float around the bold black lettering. To view other art on the topic of gender role reversal, click here.
